Continuity did the early work — pulling a loft-style open plan into a home rather than a floor plan. White oak floors carry through every room, and automated shades move together at a single tap — morning light called in, or held back for a slower start, without crossing the room to each window.
The palette keeps to neutrals so the wood grain and the colorful light fixture can take the foreground. Two accents carry color — a Hague blue in the kitchen, and a deep orange woven wool on the swivel chairs in the living area.
The dining area sits at the center of daily life. A Sossego ZYV table in Jequitibá wood anchors the dining side — warm grain, surprising angles at the legs — lifted by a handblown glass pendant of multi-colored spheres on a brass stem. Sossego Lily Chairs by Aristeu Pires gather around it, their folded-leaf backs built for long meals. At the quartzite kitchen island, Sossego Duda counter stools welcome children and adults with equal ease. On the living area side, a generous sectional and a custom coffee table with rounded edges, drawers sized for the grandchildren's toys, sit with two swivel chairs in deep orange woven wool for evenings.
The primary bedroom takes a softer approach. Seafoam bedroom paint sets the palette, echoed in a Stark rug in the same tone and a Cas Friese photograph of a California beach above the bed. Across the room, a credenza matched to the nightstands pairs with a cream bouclé chair for a quiet reading corner.
What began as a downsize became a place for three generations — considered, grounded, and built to gather in.
