The Studio
Ginger Lemon Indigo designs comfortable, considered, and beautifully functioning homes for families, empty nesters, and busy professionals — spaces that are modern in sensibility, honest in material, and warm in character. Environments that are genuinely good to live in, in every sense.
We believe home is not an aesthetic exercise.
The spaces we live in shape us more than we realize — in how we move through them, rest in them, and return to them. A well-designed home does more than look beautiful. It grounds you.
About
Ginger Lemon Indigo is a full-service interior design studio working with design-conscious homeowners across Westport, Connecticut and the wider New York area.
We operate with the rigor of a large practice and the soul of an independent one. Founder Barbra Fordyce holds a degree from the New York School of Interior Design and brings technical fluency to every project, collaborating closely with architects, builders, and trades from initial drawings through to final installation.
Our sourcing network spans makers, artisans, and suppliers that simply cannot be found in a showroom. Each is selected for the integrity of their craft and the quality of their materials.
The Founder
A European eye. An American home.
I grew up in the Netherlands, lived and worked in London, and eventually found my way to the Connecticut coast. Every place I've called home has shaped how I see space — the restraint of Dutch design, the layered warmth of a well-worn London interior, the ease of life on the water in Westport.
That journey informs every decision I make for a client, from a finish selection to a floor plan to the placement of a single chair.
What We
Hold To
-
An international perspective on design, sourced from makers and cultures around the world, and brought home thoughtfully.
A global eye,
rooted locally
-
Every decision is rooted in how a space is actually lived in. The outcome is always beautiful. The process is always rigorous.
Intelligence
over aesthetics
-
Every moving part is managed with calm, transparent communication, so clients can trust the process and simply enjoy the outcome.
Ease as a
deliverable
-
Not difference for its own sake — but the confident signature of a designer with a genuinely distinct point of view.
The considered
unexpected
-
Barbra works alongside architects, builders, and tradespeople as a technical partner, bridging creative vision and precise execution.
Collaboration at a professional level
-
A commitment to natural and responsibly sourced materials is not a trend or a talking point. It is simply how Barbra works.

Every project starts with a conversation. If you're considering a renovation, a new build, or a space that no longer feels like yours, we'd love to hear about it.
